A consortium of NGOs lobbying for fair land laws and policies

Strategies

  • Undertake community  led adjudication and demarcation of land rights.

  • Lobby districts and government support for  customary tenure institutional set up.

  • Adopt a rights-based approach to land rights advocacy and development work through the land rights Information centers.

  • Increase awareness of land rights.

  • Lobby and advocacy towards Improvement of access to  land justice .

  • Increase security of access to and ownership of land for men, women, minorities and other vulnerable groups.

  • Influence the development and implementation of comprehensive and gender responsive national land policy and the review of the legislative and regulatory framework.

  • Research on tenure regimes, the gendered nature of land ownership, and all emerging concerns and issues e.g. HIV/AIDS, climate change, food security.

  • Involve members in each programme area of executing this strategic plan enhanced by reflection and learning.

  • Introduce interactive communication channels .

  • Ensure staff development programmes are implemented Develop capacity of members and staff to respond to land issues and concerns.
