- Awareness
Sensitization on Land Law and policy
Information dissemination
National Land policy
- Land Rights Centers: together with partner /member organisations ULA has put in place regional land rights centers charged with the task of ensuring increased awareness land rights and obligations. They are in Kibaaale district with URTD in Kagadi for Western region, in Mbale with FIDA-Uganda and in Kapchorwa with Action Aid Uganda for eastern region and with VEDCO in Luweero for the central region and Apac for with the Northern region. The Alliance also operates a centre Legal Aid Project of Uganda Law Society in Kampala. The main role of centers is:
- Provision of Legal and technical advice
- Encouraging Alternative dispute resolution in land matters.
- Research on areas of reform on Land Law and policy
- Identify cases for strategic litigication
- Lobby and Advocacy on:
- Women's Land and co-ownership of Family Land
- Issues of inclusion in the National Land Policy
- Amendment of specific sections of the Land Act 1998
- Reform and revision of other legislation on land to confirm with the Land Act
- Monitoring implementation of land laws and policy.
- Networking and Collaboration for:
- Skill building and enhanced members capacity
- Information flow between and among members and ULA
- Concerted strategic plans in making land issues visible and accessible to the public
- Lobbying and advocates for fair land law and policies
- Regional networking with:
- Land net East Africa
- Land net West Africa
- Pastoral Civil Society programme of IIED/RECONCILE
- International Land Coalition
